New Art: Beacon Arts

The Beacon Arts website is fluid with information as a site connecting artists with local community in a creative economy. At this website, my new web-gallery has three albums of paintings and collages named: Floating Connections, Land of Grids, and Creatures. I'm involved in the abstract expression of my inner connection to the natural environment perceived through tactility, color, shape, space and motion.

Studio Highlight: In Motion from Collage to Painting

The painting Yellow Flash is part of a group of large oil paintings that began when I made collages on my train commute along the Hudson River to NYC. Collaging from a small box on my lap, I cut and positioned shapes and colors in response to the forms of the speeding-by landscape– the motion of mountains, visible river currents, flowing clouds, sky shapes, and shadows juxtaposed across topography. I was interested in how each day a new spatial perception was to be had in connection to myself and the landscape.
"In Motion from Collage to Painting" compares paintings to the collages, visitors are welcome by appointment.
Studio shot: Yellow Flash, oil painting, with Yellow Flash, the companion collage.
